Technology, AI & Image Recognition Disclosure | CEL - Collectible Eternity Labs Production Material Grading & Authentication

Collectible Eternity Labs (“CEL,” “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) may use software, image-recognition and image-matching technologies, metadata analysis, reference databases, archival comparison tools, and other technology-assisted systems in connection with the grading, authentication, identification, provenance documentation, research, and Registry services we provide.

These technologies are tools used to support CEL’s processes. They do not replace the judgment of CEL’s graders, authenticators, researchers, or other qualified personnel.

HUMAN EXPERT OVERSIGHT

CEL’s grading and authentication determinations are not intended to be based solely upon the output of an automated system, artificial intelligence system, image-matching tool, or software application.

Technology-assisted results may be considered together with physical examination of the collectible, production characteristics, condition, provenance, reference materials, historical information, comparison materials, and the professional judgment of CEL personnel.

Final grading and authentication determinations remain subject to CEL’s applicable grading and authentication processes.

IMAGE IDENTIFICATION & MATCHING

CEL may use image-recognition or image-matching technology to assist in identifying animation production artwork and other collectible materials.

For example, an image of a submitted production artifact may be compared with reference material to assist in identifying the production, episode, scene, sequence, cut, timestamp, character, or other production information associated with the physical collectible.

Image-matching results are intended to provide identification and comparison information relating to a submitted collectible. They are not intended to provide unrestricted access to the underlying animation or other copyrighted entertainment content.

CEL may use third-party technology or service providers to perform or assist with certain image-identification, comparison, or matching functions.

REFERENCE MATERIALS & DATABASES

CEL may utilize internal and third-party reference materials in connection with its grading, authentication, identification, provenance, and documentation services.

These materials may include image references, production information, archival records, metadata, historical records, auction records, publicly available information, and other materials reasonably relevant to evaluating or identifying a collectible.

Reference imagery may be used in a limited and contextual manner to document or verify the relationship between a physical production artifact and the production from which it originated.

CEL-CREATED IMAGES & SLAB SCANS

As part of CEL’s grading, authentication, encapsulation, certification, and Registry processes, CEL may photograph or scan submitted collectibles.

Following authentication, grading, and encapsulation, CEL may create a digital scan or image of the completed collectible within its CEL slab. This image may include the collectible, slab, certification label, grade, certification number, and other identifying information.

The Submitter may receive or be provided access to the finished-item scan as part of CEL’s services.

CEL may retain these images as part of its certification, Registry, provenance, grading-history, fraud-prevention, research, and archival records.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & AUTOMATED TECHNOLOGIES

Certain technologies used by CEL or its service providers may incorporate artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, automated image analysis, or similar technologies.

Where such technology is used, its purpose is to assist with identification, comparison, analysis, research, fraud prevention, documentation, or other functions supporting CEL’s services.

Unless CEL expressly states otherwise in an updated disclosure, images of submitted collectibles provided through CEL’s services are not intended to be used by CEL to train or fine-tune generative artificial intelligence models.

CEL does not use generative AI output as a substitute for the physical grading and authentication of a submitted collectible.

NO INFALLIBLE TECHNOLOGY

No software system, image-recognition technology, artificial intelligence system, database, comparison methodology, or authentication process is infallible.

Technology-assisted results may contain errors, incomplete matches, false matches, or inconclusive results. Reference databases and historical records may also contain incomplete, inaccurate, disputed, or subsequently revised information.

Technology and available research may change over time. Accordingly, results obtained through technology-assisted systems should be considered as one component of CEL’s broader grading, authentication, identification, and research processes.

FACTORS AFFECTING IDENTIFICATION & AUTHENTICATION

A number of factors may affect the ability to identify, compare, grade, or authenticate a collectible, including:

Age and deterioration
Environmental exposure
Restoration, alteration, or conservation work
Image or reference quality
Incomplete production records
Production variations and inconsistencies
Missing or disputed provenance
Limited historical documentation
Differences between production materials and completed animation
Availability and accuracy of reference materials
Advances or changes in research, technology, or scholarship

CEL may therefore revise or supplement identification or historical information when credible new information becomes available, subject to CEL’s applicable policies.

THIRD-PARTY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Collectibles and reference materials analyzed through CEL’s systems may depict copyrighted artwork, animation frames, characters, trademarks, logos, studio materials, or other intellectual property owned by third parties.

CEL does not claim ownership of underlying third-party copyrights, trademarks, characters, franchises, animation productions, or other intellectual property merely because such materials are examined, referenced, compared, photographed, scanned, cataloged, or otherwise used in connection with CEL’s services.

Ownership of a physical collectible does not necessarily include ownership of the copyright or other intellectual property embodied in that collectible.

CEL’s use of reference imagery and related materials is intended to support specific identification, authentication, grading, provenance, documentation, production-history, and collectible-related functions.

PURPOSE OF TECHNOLOGY-ASSISTED SERVICES

CEL’s technology-assisted systems are intended to support the grading, authentication, identification, documentation, provenance, preservation, fraud-prevention, historical, and Registry functions associated with physical collectibles.

They are not intended to operate as a substitute for the underlying copyrighted works, provide unrestricted entertainment viewing, or create a general-purpose library of copyrighted animation content.

CEL may modify the technologies, reference sources, methodologies, or processes used in providing its services as technology, research, and industry standards evolve.
